About Camfed

Camfed is an international non-profit organization tackling poverty and inequality by supporting girls to go to school and succeed, and empowering young women to step up as leaders of change. Camfed invests in girls and women in the poorest communities in sub-Saharan Africa, where girls face acute disadvantage, and where their empowerment is now transforming communities. Since 1993, Camfed’s innovative education programs in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Malawi and Tanzania have directly supported over 1,419,000 students to attend primary and secondary school, and over 3.5 million children have benefited from an improved learning environment.

The impact of Camfed’s work multiplies as the young women supported by Camfed through school share the benefits of their education with their communities. The pan-African organization established by former Camfed beneficiaries, CAMA (the Camfed Association), boasts over 33,000 members who are achieving economic independence, providing goods and services and acting as role models for younger generations. Among them are doctors, lawyers, teachers and rural businesswomen.

Camfed is headquartered in the UK with offices in Africa and San Francisco, and is seeking a talented Finance Officer to join its entrepreneurial team in San Francisco.
