Major Job Responsibilities and Duties:

The Assistant Accountant, under the direction and supervision of RCD’s Controller, has responsibility for all bookkeeping and grant invoicing, as well general accounting duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Bookkeeping
Process & mail checks. Maintain check registers.

Maintain cash position, restricted cash and working capital worksheets.

Process deposits.

Process bank reconciliations.

Prepare tax filings, such as 1099’s and DE-542 report on deadbeat parents.

Grant Invoicing

Process & reconcile CDBG, Ryan White, SHP and other grant invoices as needed.

Resolve issues with grantors and vendors.

Oversee compliance audits.

Prepare services fee billing for HUD projects.

Accounting

Assist with preparation of RCD quarterly financials.

Prepare worksheets for 100% RCD owned properties.

Oversee audits for entities in operation under general supervision. Review financials, prepare supporting schedules, provide adjusting entries, provide documentation to auditors, resolve questions.

Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Ideal applicants will have 3 to 5 years of experience in an accounting position, preferably in real estate. Nonprofit experience is desirable. Applicant should have strong abilities in the following areas:

Strong organizational skills and an ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks in fast-paced, demanding environment

Detail-oriented with strong follow-up abilities

Clear and effective verbal and written communications

Strong Excel and accounting software skills; knowledge of Accpac a plus

Education: Bachelor’s degree. Desirable additional qualifications: knowledge of real estate operations and development, affordable housing funding programs.

Work Environment: Majority of time spent in a sedentary office environment.
