Associate, Financial Planning / Analysis – Room to Read – San Francisco, CA

Position Overview:

The Associate, Financial Planning & Analytics is a member of our Finance and Legal Team and is responsible for all aspects of budgeting and financial planning and analysis on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis for the Development Team. Acting as a senior analyst, the Finance Associate will work closely with the Development Organization as their business partner. This position will report to the Manager of FP&A and will work with the senior relationship managers to provide financial planning and analysis, forecasting and reporting revenue performance and metrics to the executive team and the board of directors. This person will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and the CFO developing and reporting on revenue, metrics and KPIs, overseeing budgets, cost allocations and finance support for proposal development as well as supporting the development organization as well as assisting in the recognized revenue calculations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for all aspects of budgeting and financial planning and analysis on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis for the Development Organization
Develop weekly, monthly and annual revenue forecast and reporting process looking at multiple dimensions: Channel, Geography and Relationship Manager
Work with Chief Development Officer and CFO to develop and produce appropriate monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for the Development Organization
Create analysis and metrics to support the achievement of a key strategic initiative over the next five years to increase efficiencies in current revenue generating streams. Develop analytics to measure changes to key metrics: average gift size, lead generation and conversion and retention rates. In addition, support new targeted areas we want to focus on to augment our fundraising efforts
Support the Finance Manager and CFO in managing the 2015-2019 Strategic Plan financial model
Help drive revenue re-design as part of the GL/CRM re-design and implementation process
Create many proposal budgets, financial tools and other resources to support revenue raising initiatives in consultation with Relationship Managers. Develop tools to analyze and support grant proposal process
Help drive the development and analysis of Annual Pricing Strategies and Fund Balance Forecasts
Develop, facilitate and conduct training for the Development team on subjects such as program costing, expense management and grant budgeting
Create and maintain documentation and reference material for budgeting and other financial processes
Provide data and systems support to the Finance team as relevant
Support Finance Managers and CFO with additional ad hoc projects

Qualifications:
Required:

Bachelor’s degree
Understanding of concepts of finance and accounting
3-5 years of demonstrated analytic experience, including business experience in revenue analysis and modeling, budgeting and/or financial management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Strong data analytic skills (Excel proficiency), Business Intelligence, and financial modeling, with VBA macro experience preferred
Detail oriented and organized, able to juggle multiple priorities
Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
Prior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization
Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided

Preferred:

Grants budgeting experience
General ledger knowledge and experience
Microsoft Access and PowerPoint at an expert level
Ability to travel internationally if neede
