Overview
FLACS seeks a Controller to work as a member of the Network Finance team supporting the Director of Finance with the management of the accounting functions.
This individual will ensure internal controls are performed and implemented to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and overall accounting operations. This individual must be detail oriented with strong organizational and communication skills. The Controller will be required to access and perform duties using QuickBooks Online and should have background using accounting applications. This position will report directly to the Director of Finance and provide substantial support in the financial reporting processes. Salary range $65 – 75K
Duties:
· Analyze and prepare the needed schedules in connection with the annual financial audit
· Conduct routine budget reconciliation, tracking and analysis for all grants and general funds.
· Develop systems for effectively projecting, monitoring and analyzing expenses, revenue, assets, and cash flow against budgets and forecasts
· Enhance systems for monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and execute necessary items on close-out check lists as needed
· Enter payroll into QuickBooks in a timely manner
· Maintain general ledger through identifying and explaining accounting inconsistencies and initiating corrective actions
· Oversee all A/P and A/R functions
· Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries for the Network and schools, and reconcile balance sheet and other accounts monthly as appropriate
· Prepare payroll-related entries and provide proper supporting documentation
· Record and track income and expenses related to contracts and grants, including Federal entitlements and other contributed income
· Support with preparation of monthly financial and management reports, including cash flow forecasts and variance analysis as well as other reports as needed
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance
Experience and Educational Background:
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, delegate, and lead by example
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint is required, including ability to filter and sort data, create pivot tables, create and link formulas
Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks or a similar accounting program
Strong understanding of GAAP for non-profits required
Experience working in non-profit accounting necessary
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Charter School Experience preferred
CPA experience preferred
Five (5) or more years of experience in accounting or financial management
