The New York City Ballet seeks an experienced Controller to handle the planning, managing, and reporting of its financial activities, including general accounting functions, cash flow analyses, investment monitoring, and annual audit coordination.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee financial operations, including accounting functions, endowment tracking, cash flow, payroll, annual audit, and Form 990 preparation.
Prepare and issue financial reports and statements, including monthly closing, quarterly and year-end reporting in an accurate and timely manner.
Work closely with Development Department for all grant accounting to ensure that expenditures are consistent with grant proposals and program budgets; produce financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants, as necessary.
Monitor organization’s purchasing activity across Departments to ensure that purchasing policies and practices are implemented.
Provide cost benefit and other financial analysis for business development opportunities and new initiatives.
Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
Familiarity with non-profit finance and accounting regulations strongly preferred
Entrepreneurial and collaborate team player; flexible, energetic
Experienced manager with strong written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
CPA
Degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum five years controllership experience or similar responsibilities in a complex organization
PC proficient with accounting software experience and strong Microsoft Excel
