Development Assistant – Holocaust Center for Humanity – Seattle, WA

Position Summary: The Development Assistant supports all development activity, coordinates marketing and communications, plays a key role in planning and implementation of the annual luncheon fundraiser, and is directly responsible for coordinating special and ongoing events throughout the year.

General: The position offers variety and requires strong administrative, creative, and communication skills. You write well, are meticulously detail oriented, well organized, a thoughtful problem solver, and gracious and comfortable working with donors and the public; you go with the flow and are able to own a project from start to finish.

EVENTS: The Development Assistant coordinates all special and recurring events for the organization. Tasks as-needed will include publicity, communications, setup/tear down, staffing, ordering food/rentals, and other administrative and logistical projects.

Annual Fundraiser/Luncheon: The Development Assistant works on aspects of the annual fundraiser throughout the year. Responsibilities include but are not limited to communicating with sponsors, table captains, and guests; coordinating exhibit room; producing tribute book and other print collateral.

Scope: The Development Assistant plays a key role by providing administrative support to the Development Office and participating in all fundraising activities including donor and public relations, direct mail appeals, social media, and special events.

Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence

Database: prepare reports and manage donor database as needed

Research prospective corporate, foundation, and individual donors

Coordinate production/distribution of spring and year-end appeals / annual report

Handle all administrative details associated with Development Committee meetings (i.e. prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, etc.)

Prepare and assemble promotional materials for distribution

Other duties as assigned by the Strategic Director

Experience: Development, event planning, and marketing/publicity experience required; graphic design skills and experience a plus. Familiarity with Jewish community a plus.

Bachelor’s degree ; 3+ years of experience in nonprofit development

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Database management experience – Etapestry/Blackbaud preferred; Adobe Design Suite experience desired

Ability to work independently with little supervision

Excellent interpersonal skills

Driver’s License / access to registered vehicle
