Title: Development Associate
Status: Temporary, Part-time Employee
Reports to: Development Manager
Position Summary and General Responsibilities
Tandem, Partners in Early Learning, is looking for a Development Associate to provide administrative and project management support to our Development and Communications team.
The Development Associate will provide administrative and project management support to a committed, hard-working, and high-spirited Development and Communications team. The majority of the project management work will be with regards to grants management. The Development Associate will use Salesforce to track grant deliverables and communicate reporting deadlines. He/she will also handle the administrative process of receiving a grant award, including saving all required documentation and updating Salesforce accordingly. Lastly, the Development Associate will ensure the Development and Communications team is prepared to submit proposals and reports to Corporations and Foundations by gathering relevant documentation, and as needed, uploading the documentation into the online grants management systems used by some foundations and corporations. Occasionally the Development Associate may be asked to draft boilerplate language for proposals and reports.
This is a temporary, part-time position that is available from September 2015 to January 2016. Depending on the needs of the organization, there could be an opportunity to extend the contract past January. The Development Associate will report to the Development Manager.
Specific Duties
Gather signatures for grant agreements and mail signed copies back to funders
Scan and upload grant agreements and other paperwork for current funders
Create online profiles for grant applications and upload applications, as well as any required supporting documentation
Update Salesforce to reflect deliverables due to current funders, and when grant applications and reports are submitted
Develop and run reports in Salesforce that show upcoming deliverables and communicate due dates to relevant team members
Organize supporting documentation and boilerplate language for grant applications.
Contribute to building the team’s capacity to submit timely, high-quality grant applications and reports by drafting boilerplate language and investigating ways to further leverage Salesforce for grants management
As needed, research prospective funders and share application processes with relevant team members
Other tasks as assigned
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
Proficiency in MS-Office Suite tools required, familiarity with Salesforce required
Strong project management skills, including time management, project scheduling, and task management.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks or projects while paying attention to the most important details of the grant and report submission process.
Ability to work independently, and apply critical thinking and sound judgment in carrying out project management tasks.
Takes initiative and seizes opportunities to improve internal systems and processes, especially those related to grants management and fundraising.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with attention to the team’s business needs.
A team player who is cooperative, reliable, has a positive attitude and communicates constructively.

Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to regularly sit for long periods, use a computer to create and update documents frequently; operate a motor vehicle and navigate roads weekly; and lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
Benefits and Compensation
Part-time employees may participate in the organization’s benefit programs on a pro-rated basis. Compensation is dependent on experience.
