Development Coordinator
Active Minds is seeking to hire a full-time Development Coordinator. Reporting to the Development Director, this position works closely with the marketing and communication team, programs team, Student Advisory Committee, chapter volunteers, and interns. The Coordinator will support all aspects of Active Minds fundraising to meet its annual fundraising goal.
The Development Coordinator will be someone who is experienced, motivated to produce a high volume of accurate and detailed work, creative, customer-oriented, technologically-adept, able to multi-task and problem-solve, and interested in helping the Development Director implement new systems and strategies to strengthen the development program as a whole. S/he is the key point person for critical tasks related to stewarding volunteer fundraising while supporting long-term relationships with our diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Individual Donor Program
Assist with direct mail appeals, acknowledgements and other donor communications and manage fulfillment of direct mail appeals;
Provide support for donor membership program and new fundraising initiatives;
Assist in the development and implementation of donor stewardship and cultivation strategies.
Communications
Assist with content production of annual newsletter, collateral materials, website updates, regular e-communications, blog posts and social media;
Coordinate with Communications on efforts to cultivate new engagement touch points with students, advisors and community supporters across the country;
Respond to donor and volunteer inquiries.
Special Events
Assist with planning, coordination and execution of fundraising events (two major events held in Washington DC and New York annually);
Must be comfortable representing and speaking publicly on behalf of the organization;
Manage registration systems, reporting, and all necessary follow up.
Design event materials such as invitations (print and online), signage, webpages, etc.
Data Management
Manage Salesforce/Convio CRM, including generating standard reports, creating additional reports as requested and reconciling financial data between all systems on a routine basis;
Analyze and present program summary, evaluation, and fundraising data to supervisor, peers and Senior Leadership;
Manage and provide customer service support for peer-to-peer fundraising platform (www.myActiveMinds.org), including outreach to new participants, designing/updating virtual event webpages, updating platform landing pages and basic troubleshooting;
Understand donation processing, data entry and acknowledgment procedure to serve as backup as needed.
Student/Chapter Network
Manage and supervise 2-4 student interns each semester by creating/reviewing assignments and providing professional growth opportunities;
Identify and recommend relevant content to support a robust and engaging online learning tool in alignment with identified development needs;
Serve as liaison for Development Subcommittee members on Student Advisory Committee (SAC) and create/assist with projects throughout the year;
Assist with the planning of our National Mental Health on Campus Conference.
Required Experience and Competencies:
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, marketing/communications or related field and 2 years of post-graduation work experience; strong proofreading, critical thinking, written and oral communications, customer service, organizational skills, and fundraising experience are also required; must have a positive attitude and be a team player who can work in a fast-paced environment with a heavy workload and limited supervision; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
