Key Responsibilities:
The Development Coordinator plays an integral role on the five-person Fund Development team by supporting Thrive’s event, database and administrative efforts. Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Fund Development, this position is responsible for assisting with events, supporting donor and corporate relations, coordinating development marketing and communications, and overseeing Thrive’s donor database. The Development Coordinator will also be actively involved in assisting with the creation of new donor events.
Database Management (35%)
Serve as the go-to staff member for Thrive’s donor management database (Bloomerang), including training staff on the use of Bloomerang and troubleshooting issues as they arise
Process donations and pledge payments, assist with thank you letters, run reports and update constituent records
Liaise between Thrive and Bloomerang on all database related communications, concerns and issues
Work with the Fund Development team to develop and periodically refine an effective plan for database cleanup and management
Special Events Coordination (35%)
Assist with the coordination of Thrive’s fundraising events, including the annual Leadership Luncheon, donor cultivation events and a new fundraising event
Coordinate ticket sales, registration and attendee tracking
Support venue site management, audio/visual planning and other event logistics
Provide excellent customer service to donors, corporate partners, board members and attendees
Work closely with the Fund Development Team to ensure that events are effectively used as a relationship management tool
Recruit, train and coordinate event volunteers
Build relationships across the Fund Development, Program and Operational teams to identify opportunities for events and/or donor cultivation
Develop and maintain a calendar of fundraising and cultivation events
Assist in the cultivation and solicitation of individual donors, corporate sponsors and in-kind donations, both for fundraising events and in general
Close out and document all events as required
Administrative Support & Other Responsibilities (30%)
Serve as Fund Development team point person for communication tools, including Thrive website and social media. Manage and update the Fund Development portion of the Thrive website.
Provide administrative support and project management assistance to the Fund Development team
Conduct corporate, sponsor and foundation research and outreach as needed
Assist with staff and volunteer appreciation as it relates to development and fundraising
Key Qualifications:
Thrive seeks an energetic, strategic and self-motivated professional to join our dynamic Fund Development team. The successful candidate will have experience with event planning and project management. A passion for early learning and creating opportunities for every child in our state to get a great start in life is highly desired. In addition to demonstrated success in the above areas of work, the ideal candidate will have:
Experience supporting and/or coordinating events
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge and understanding of fundraising and event planning best practices
Experience recruiting, training and managing volunteers
High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidential donor information
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks with various deadlines and priorities while maintaining with exceptional attention to detail
Sense of humor and flexible demeanor
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Two or more years of successful nonprofit experience with special emphasis on event planning and/or project management required. Familiarity with early learning programs/initiatives and education reform efforts is desired.
