About myAgro
myAgro is an award-winning, start-up social enterprise working in Mali and Senegal, West Africa. Our mission is to help small-scale farmers move out of poverty by providing certified seed and fertilizer, technical assistance and market access to farmers via a mobile layaway payment system. We’ve grown from 240 farmers in 2013 to over 10,000 this year. Our dream is to build a model of savings layaway in Mali and Senegal that can be adopted by other organizations to serve over a million farmers throughout the world.
About the Internship
Use your philanthropic knowledge and fundraising know-how to support the work of a fast-growing and award-winning social enterprise supporting farmers in West Africa. We are looking for a stellar intern who brings a strong interest in fundraising and a passion for our mission to support small-scale farmers in West Africa through our unique approach of mobile layaway, training and market access.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the intern will support our efforts to build our networks, research potential partnerships and funders, and support the implementation of our development strategies. We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, energetic and willing to take on a multitude of different tasks.
Potential projects
Research and identify new foundation, corporate and individual giving prospects
Support research and writing of white papers and blog posts
Support Executive Team members’ preparation for conferences and events
Assist the Director of Development in preparing for donor meetings, developing prospect documents and presentation materials, and coordinating post-meeting follow up
Develop and maintain a monthly tracking report of contacts and prospects
Work with the Executive Director, Director of Development, and US Operations Manager to ensure myAgro’s marketing and communications plan properly supports donor engagement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work, manage details, and adapt easily to changing priorities
Excellent writing and editing skills, preferably in the area of grant proposal writing
Good judgment and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of stakeholders
Ability to eloquently articulate myAgro’s programs; passion for myAgro’s mission
Strong interest and experience in developing communications materials, including social media presence and donor reports.
Positive, humble and an easy-going attitude
Start-up mindset: entrepreneurial, wiling to take risks, work hard, and wear multiple hats within the organization with no task too small or too large for you.
