JOB SUMMARY: The Development Manager is responsible for leadership, creation, and implementation of a comprehensive development plan and related strategies to reach annual fund development goals through individual, corporate and foundation support as well as through special event campaigns and major gifts.
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: We are searching for a full-time, professional Development Manager to lead the development team. The Development Manager will be responsible for fundraising efforts in all areas, and particularly the expansion of our individual and corporate donor base. The Development Manager will work closely with the AGF’s Founder and Board of Directors.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE
1. Create and execute an annual development plan which specifies broad strategies to accomplish fundraising goals through:
Individual and major gift support
Corporate support
Special events
Foundation and government grants
Board cultivation and development
Marketing and communications
Work with the Executive Director and relevant staff members to develop strategies for long-term, sustainable funding.
Work closely with the board of directors to gain buy-in for all fundraising and communication methods and goals.
Assess budget, resources and responsibilities for each individual campaign.
2. Cultivate and steward individual and major gift donors
Cultivate and manage relationships with board members
Identify prospective donors and cultivate relationships
Create briefing documents for individual donor meetings
Complete call reports following all donor contacts and enter them in database
Lead the organization and management team in cultivating meaningful relationships with donors
3. Cultivate and steward corporate relationships
Prospect new corporate partners on a regular basis
Act as primary contact with corporate partners and prospects
Secure meetings with corporate prospects
Complete call reports following all donor contacts and enter them in database
4. Support and oversee the organization’s foundation and government grant efforts
Retain, cultivate and develop key foundation relationships
Read and edit grant proposals
Develop a monthly grant-alert for the board of directors
Manage grant relationships in database
Be educated and informed about public, private and government funding
5. Play the lead role in the execution of all special events
Plan small cultivation events (e.g., cocktail or dinner party)
Develop vision, goals, overall design, staffing, and evaluation for special events
Act as main event liaison with board of directors and hosts
Take the lead on all planning, logistics, response management, follow-up calls, and correspondence with supporters and prospects
Follow-up with all donors and prospects
6. Develop marketing, communication and brand strategies for A Global Friendship
Collaborate with management team on overall brand strategy and direction of A Global Friendship
Assist in vision for communication plan including videos, web, social media and marketing materials
Oversee creation, production and mailing of annual report and other materials
Manage relations with relevant consultants (e.g., designers, copywriters)
7. Present the AGF development picture both internally and externally
Collaborate with Youth Communication program staff on a regular basis to gather information for successful donor cultivation and grant writing initiatives
Present and articulate development goals and strategies to Youth Communication’ staff
Promote Youth Communication and its story at workshops, conferences, seminars, luncheons and meetings
Other
Meet with the executive director and management team on regular basis
Communicate with board members
Participate in board meetings; make presentations to the board on key issues
Oversee the acknowledgment process and donor correspondence
Work with consultants in preparation of major fundraising drives
Other duties, as required

Qualifications/Requirements:
Development/fundraising skills including how to cultivate and steward individuals, write fundraising correspondence, edit foundation proposals, build relationships with institutional funders
Experience securing contributions of 10K plus
Strong leadership and communication skills, including writing and editing ability
Comfort and skill at interacting with board of directors and wealthy individuals
Strong understanding of planning and managing special events
Ability to think strategically and creatively
Solid marketing and communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent social and interpersonal skills
Ability to work interactively with others
Understanding of fundraising database management
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, database and internet applications
Be a flexible, skilled problem-solver and self-starter
Knowledge of nonprofit environment in New York City
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum 4 years’ experience as fundraising professional
