Development / Operations Associate – True Colors Fund – New York, NY

The True Colors Fund is seeking a Development and Operations Associate who is eager to join a small team at a fast-growing organization with a collaborative work environment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain solid development, operations, and administrative experience while making the world a better place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth.

About the True Colors Fund

The True Colors Fund was co-founded by Cyndi Lauper and works to end homelessness among LGBT youth, creating a world in which young people can be their true selves. The True Colors Fund is building a national movement to ensure that no young person is homeless as a result of their sexual orientation or gender identity, and if they do become homeless, that the programs meant to help them are safe, inclusive, and affirming.

Through a wide array of community organizing, public engagement, public policy, research, and youth collaboration programs, the True Colors Fund is leading the effort to build a system in our country that is effective in both preventing and ending homelessness among LGBT youth.

Development Responsibilities

Process donations and ensure timely donor acknowledgement
Maintain donor and constituent database, ensure data integrity, and conduct regular and timely reporting
Perform foundation, corporation, and donor research in partnership with Development Officer
Assist in the creation of development materials, presentations, proposals, and other documents
Assist with execution and fulfilment of online auctions and raffles
Provide support for events, including our annual benefit concert Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays
Assist Development Officer as needed

Operations Responsibilities

Process invoices and ensure timely payment
Manage organizational monthly credit card expense reconciliation
Order supplies and ensure office is ready for business each day
Provide support for programmatic events, including our annual Forty to None Summit
Handle organizational shipping, mailing, and messengering

Administrative Responsibilities

Administrative support for Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, including managing schedules and travel arrangements
Monitor and answer general organizational voicemail, email, and correspondence
Other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

Familiarity and understanding of the issues facing the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community
1-2+ years of administrative, operations, and/or development support experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly
Diligent work ethic and desire to expand skills
Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
A collaborative team player and multi-tasker
Willingness to explore new technologies and adapt as necessary
Database experience required (experience with Salesforce preferred)
