The Communications & Marketing team at the Center for Infectious Disease Research is currently looking for a passionate and dedicated people person to be our Donor Relations Manager – an essential role on our team. The successful candidate will be results driven, methodical and detail oriented. There are lots of moving parts in this position and the Center depends on this position to maintain a healthy relationship to our donor community, so the candidate must be able to handle multiple projects and priorities with poise, dedication, accuracy, efficiency and reliability.
OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW
The Donor Relations Manager is the sole individual responsible for maintaining donor records and ensuring the necessary communications, meetings, and relationships are built between key Center staff and Board members and the donor community. There is a real opportunity for this individual to shape the donor experience with the Center. This position will have a donor-facing role, but will primarily support donor stewardship and cultivation through facilitating meetings, communication, appeals, and through the thorough and meticulous keeping of donor records.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Donor Outreach (45% effort)
In conjunction with the Director, develop and implement a well-coordinated individual giving program designed to cultivate and solicit support from a portfolio of individuals and foundations
Coordinate communications, including meetings, between key Center staff and Board Members with donors and foundations
Establish a monthly giving program
Manage the planning and execution of all print and digital appeal campaigns in collaboration with other team members.
Oversee the development, management, and implementation of an individual donor recognition plan including the timely acknowledgement and follow-up for all individual donors and prospects
Includes: quarterly donor magazine, monthly emails, annual reports, thank you letters, etc.
Database Management (35% Effort)
Input and update all donor records into Raiser’s Edge as information becomes available
Keep an updated list of current donors segmented by giving level
Send pledge reminders monthly
Administrative (20% effort)
Performing support duties such as developing meeting agendas, maintaining databases for projects and sponsorships, logging invoices, staffing internal and external events
Support the planning of the annual gala
Maintain accurate and complete records of all communications with donors
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum four years experience in fundraising
Critical thinking skills – candidate must be able to solve problems as they arise
Must possess advanced knowledge of Raiser’s Edge (certification preferred) software and other fundraising software (Mobile Cause, Auction, text to give, etc)
Preference given to candidates who have experience with mobile and digital fundraising software (such as text to give and peer to peer)
Superior written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources
Ability to multi-task, accurate data entry, strong computer/ database skills; initiative, creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm are also highly valued
Ability to respond effectively to organizational fundraising priorities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in English, communications, nonprofit management, or related field
Certification in Raiser’s Edge Preferred, required within 1 year of employment
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and database programs; experience with Campaign Monitor or similar mass email systems.
