About the Organization:
For 15 years, Slideluck has been dedicated to building and strengthening community through food and art. We have produced multimedia slideshows combined with potluck dinners in over 100 cities around the world – from Stockholm to São Paulo to Singapore. Our programming is known for being unique, engaging, accessible and inspiring.
The organization was founded in a Seattle backyard, moved its headquarters to NYC in 2003 and became a 501c3 non-profit in 2009. Each event is localized and the 25 artists presenting work engage the communities from which they come. The events draw up to 1000 participants and in 2010 in Brooklyn, Slideluck broke the Guinness World Record for the Largest Potluck on Earth. Over 10,000 artists have participated, from hobbyists to some of the most important artists working today. The events have taken place everywhere from the ruins of a 500-year old church in Panama to the National Library of Canada. Slideluck has partnered with numerous organizations, museums, foundations, universities, festivals, conferences and corporations – resulting in a great deal of press and goodwill throughout the world.
In addition, our community outreach wing, the Slideluck Youth Initiative, fosters creative expression and empowers underprivileged students through the use of photography and multimedia storytelling. In doing so, the SLYI develops valuable skills, enriches student’s lives and strengthens community. We are currently have 6 chapters operating locally and globally.
