In order to meet its organizational goals, Nazareth Housing has created the position of Finance/Business Manager. The Finance/Business Manager works strategically in fiscal management and reports to the Executive Director. The Finance/Business Manager collaborates with division directors and operations to support the organizational mission to prevent and end homelessness. This will be hands-on and participative management in the areas of financial and accounting systems; receivables/payables and budget management. The Finance/Business Manager position will also provide benefits management, payroll processing and leave tracking and communication with insurance companies.
The Finance/Business Manager will support planning and implementation of fiscal decisions working to strengthen Nazareth Housing’s financial systems and reporting. In collaboration with the Assistant Director for Administration, s/he will also assist in developing a higher level and quality of infrastructure to support planned organizational growth. Nazareth Housing Manages Thorpe Family Residence (TFR). This position will provide support and supervision to a part-time business manager of a related entity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee general accounting, financial analysis and monthly reporting to executive leadership on expenses and revenue
Manage ADP on line payroll systems
Maintain effective system of accounting records and comprehensive set of controls and budgets
Support the annual audit process, 990 and Char 500 filings working with an outside contracted CPA firm
Interface with banks, vendors, insurance providers, credit card companies
Maintain the books through QuickBooks for organization and related entities
Manage accounts payable and receivable and vendor activity for organization and related entities
Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll. Allocate payroll and track deductions and time use in compliance with funding requirements
Prepare monthly financial reports
Prepare bank reconciliations
Generate monthly financial dashboard which accurately forecasts expenses, revenues and cash balances through the end of the fiscal year in order to effectively manage cash flow
Establish necessary systems to manage the financial activities maintaining compliance with the highest ethical standards, all applicable laws, regulations and requirements of funders
Qualifications
Minimum of a B.A., ideally with advanced training and certifications
Minimum 5-7 years in finance and operations
Ideal candidate has been responsible for the quality and content of all financial and audit data, for either a division or significant program are
Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with — programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
Technology savvy with broad experience using, selecting and managing a variety of software packages
Demonstrated experience administering government contracts
A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organizational and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Nazareth Housing
Fully conversant with accrual accounting; ADP payroll and Timeclock systems; Quickbooks; EFT transactions and online financial management
Familiarity with Raisers Edge a plus but not required
