Position Summary:
Candidate is responsible for the general ledger accounting and for accounting for prepaid items; leases, maintenance contracts and other contractual agreements. Candidate should be able to work independently, collegially and professionally with Students, Parents, Faculty and Staff. Excellent communication skills along with quality interpersonal and computer skills are expected.
Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Responsible for the monthly faculty payroll and bi-weekly staff payroll.
Responsible for monthly payroll entries.
Responsible for Bank Reconciliations.
Responsible for timely reporting of the unclaimed checks to the state.
Responsible for maintaining and accounting for Fixed Assets (purchases, transfers, deletions and depreciation) recording and Personal Property Tax returns related to such assets.
Assist in other legal filings including sales tax, business licenses and registration filings. Maintain annual calendar for all filing requirements.
Assist in monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
Work with the Development Department on the monthly releases schedule
Monitor all in-kind contributions (including volunteer services)
Prepare monthly contributions entries (releases and adjustments).
Reconcile monthly contributions records in Raisers Edge with the general ledger
Reconcile the monthly Development report to the general ledger
Provide financial information to the Development Dept. for funding applications
Responsible for monthly (including accruals) and year-end closing entries.
Account for all recurring monthly revenue and expenses in preparation for the month-end close.
Maintain the Chart of Accounts for use by Staff & Faculty. Distribute new Chart of accounts to staff and to department chairs quarterly.
Assist in the monthly financial reporting and presentations.
Prepare and distribute quarterly department expenses report. Provide over/under analyses
Assist in the annual budget process.
Other Duties as may be assigned by the CFO
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3 years related experience.
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Excellent organizational and inter-personal skills
Excellent computer skills including all Microsoft programs (Excel, Word,) and Blackbaud Accounting system knowledge or ability to learn it readily.
Ability to work in a team environment.
