Financial Analyst – Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) – New York, NY

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is the nation’s most effective environmental action group, combining the grassroots power of 1.4 million members and online activists with the courtroom clout and expertise of nearly 500 lawyers, scientists and other professionals to fight for the planet and its people in the halls of Congress, communities across the country, and nations around the globe. Position Summary:

NRDC is seeking a Financial Analyst to work with the Finance team in our NY office.

Responsibilities:

Analyze actual to budget variances on a monthly basis and perform year over year variance analysis for the annual audit.
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of short and long term forecasts for operating and capital statements.
Consolidate data and collect insight from Program Finance Managers to assist Programs and Department Leaders manage their finances and plan for the future.
Prepare reports for Senior Management, Trustees and donors regarding the state of NRDC’s finances.
Assist in the preparation of presentations in support of board and trustee meetings, monthly/quarterly senior leadership meetings and various strategic committees of the company.
Work closely with the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis on various projects.
Support the strategic planning process for the entire organization.
Maintain budget and reforecast information in the accounting system.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required.
3-5 years of financial analysis experience.
Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve.
Excellent writing skills.
Organized and detail oriented.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial staff.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
