East LA Community Corporation is seeking a Housing & Financial Counselor. The Ideal candidate will have experience and training in homebuyer, post-purchase, and financial education and one-on-one counseling. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish and have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office programs and the internet.
Qualifications:
Ability to coordinate and teach homebuyer and financial literacy workshops;
Excellent case management skills;
Ability to speak, read, and write fluent Spanish and work with monolingual Spanish speaking clients
Ability to work with clients in an individual and small group basis;
Excellent customer service skills;
Professional demeanor and networking skills;
Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet;
Excellent written and oral presentation skills;
Ability to manage time effectively; ability to work independently, without close supervision;
Ability to meet aggressive goals for First-Time Homebuyer and Wealth Building Programs;
Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
At least one year of experience in housing and/or financial counseling;
Have reliable transportation;
Be available to work weekends and evenings as needed;
Duties:
Implementation of ELACC’s Homebuyer, Post-purchase, and Wealth Building programs targeted at low and moderate income families and individuals. During tax season, assist with ELACC’s free tax preparation site, VITA. The Housing and Financial Counselor will plan and facilitate first-time homebuyer, foreclosure prevention, and wealth building workshops, provide one-on-one counseling, and help manage special financial programs. During tax season, assist with ELACC’s free tax preparation site, VITA. In addition, the counselor will market all housing counseling and financial programs throughout ELACC’s target area. Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
