Manager of Finance – Relay Graduate School of Education – New York, NY

The Manager of Finance, reporting to the Director of Finance, is part of the Finance team, which provides institutional financial management in addition to student-facing financial services for the overall organization. This individual will be supporting institutional financial management. As the Manager of Finance gains exposure to the financial operations at Relay GSE and gains experience working within a fast-paced, dynamic, and expanding institution, she or he will be positioned for future leadership opportunities at Relay GSE.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Collaborate with Finance Associate to implement all bookkeeping and accounting functions including but not limited to: payroll, cash disbursements, cash receipts, and bank reconciliations
Work with the Director of Finance to manage the annual budgeting process, re-projections, and monitor cash flows
Generate and interpret monthly financial reports for budget managers, allowing for more strategic decision-making
Improve and design new financial operations to ensure a high level of service for Relay campuses and employees and to accommodate Relay’s rapid growth
Build and maintain current accounting and reporting policies while refining sound fiscal policies and processes aligned with the organization’s mission and goals
Collaborate with Finance team to produce backup materials and schedules for yearly audits
Manage day-to-day communication with employees regarding Finance team policies and procedures
Collaborate with the Development team to produce and monitor grant budgets
Consistently improve accuracy of detailed accounting records by performing miscellaneous accounting reconciliation projects proactively with accuracy

Qualifications

First and foremost, the Manager of Finance must share Relay GSE’s sense of urgency about the need to improve student achievement through phenomenal teacher and leader training. Additionally, candidates for the position must have the following:

BA, preferably with a quantitative or logical reasoning focus
Experience working in small, lean teams
3-7 years of accounting or finance experience
A high level of attention to detail
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Strong organizational and communication skills with a service oriented mentality
Ability to work efficiently, intensely, and within an entrepreneurial environment
A passion to join a mission-driven organization
Authorized to work in the United States
