Nonprofit Staff Accountant at friendly CPA firm – Crosby & Kaneda – Oakland, CA

Position Overview:

We are a CPA firm focused on supporting the many wonderful nonprofits in the San Francisco Bay Area with audit, review and tax services.

Many of us have worked in the nonprofit field directly ourselves. We are a smaller firm and like to work in a collaborative team based manner.

In this position you would be partnered with one of our audit managers working on audits and reviews for our clients.

We provide training where needed and you would be responsible for helping with audit preparation, fieldwork and audit testing, and the wrap up and finalization of audits.

Qualifications:

Prior practical experience in accounting OR a strong accounting educational background (BA / Certificate in Accounting)
Experience working with nonprofits or volunteering with nonprofits a significant plus
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Solid computers skills including comfort with Microsoft Word and Excel functionality
Detail oriented and hard working
Professional and personable with clients
Accounting software experience (Quickbooks, Peachtree, FundEZ etc) a plus

Responsibilities:

Assist with financial statement audits and reviews, including planning work, fieldwork and wrap up work.
Assist during fieldwork with audit testing and other support activities.
Research accounting and tax treatment or areas you are unclear about or ask for assistance when needed.
Audit fieldwork may be located in various places in the Bay Area, so travel by BART, bus, walking or car (we generally carpool so you would not need to necessarily drive) will be required as part of the position.
Our regular office hours are approximately 9:00AM – 5:30PM and we follow similar hours when in the field as well.
