SUMMARY: The Senior Development Accountant, under the direction and supervision of RCD’s Controller, has the responsibility to manage development invoicing, budgets and accounting, as well general accounting duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development accounting
Review documentation and approvals.

Set up and manage master budget to actual worksheet with Project Manager’s input.

Prepare draws and follow up with funding agencies to resolve issues and collect payment.

Handle mapping to construction and other lender draw templates.

Reconcile to general ledger.

Oversee cost cert audits.

Grant Invoicing

Process & reconcile CDBG, Ryan White, SHP and other grant invoices as needed.

Resolve issues with grantors and vendors.

Oversee compliance audits.

Prepare services fee billing for HUD projects.

General accounting

Input and reconcile payroll data.

Assist with RCD corporate quarterly and year end financials.

Oversee audits for entities in operation under general supervision. Review financials, prepare supporting schedules, provide adjusting entries, provide documentation to auditors, resolve questions.

Perform other duties as needed.

Assist with redesign of accounting software, worksheets and procedures.

Other tasks to assist Controller as needed.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants should have at least five years of progressive experience in affordable housing, finance, and/or real estate. The position requires a strong knowledge of affordable housing real estate development, affordable housing funding programs, real estate finance, and construction. Ideal candidates will possess a ‘can-do’ attitude, with an ability to alternately take the big picture portfolio view, while rolling up their sleeves when appropriate.

The applicant should have demonstrated experience and/or abilities in the following areas:

Strong organizational skills and an ability to juggle, prioritize and delegate in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal and management skills and an ability to effectively supervise high capacity and highly qualified direct and indirect reports

Demonstrated relationship building experience, and an ability to work collaboratively with the diversity of affordable housing stakeholders

Excellent negotiation skills and experience

Advanced experience in preparation and analysis of pro forma financial spreadsheets, cash flow projections, and other relevant financial and physical analyses of affordable multifamily housing

Clear and effective verbal and written communications

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Education: Bachelor’s degree. Desirable additional qualifications: knowledge of affordable housing real estate development, affordable housing funding programs, real estate finance, & construction.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to communicate (written and verbal) clearly. Must be able to lift twenty (20) pounds.
