Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is positioned to bring about transformational change in teacher and principal preparation on a national scale. Relay is serving over 1,000 novice and early career teachers in New York, Newark, New Orleans, Chicago, and Houston as well as over 200 aspiring and current principals nationally. In the summer of 2015 Relay will be launching campuses in Camden, Memphis, Philadelphia, and Wilmington and has plans for further national expansion. In order to sustain this rapid growth, Relay is seeking a Student Financial Services Associate who will directly support over 1,000 graduate students across the country. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Student Financial Services Associate is part of the Finance team, which provides student-facing financial services in addition to institutional financial management for the overall organization. This highly detail-oriented and motivated individual will gain experience working within a fast-paced, dynamic and expanding institution and will be positioned for future growth and development within Relay.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Track, record, and communicate billing information to students and third parties in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
Respond to student inquiries with courtesy and professionalism
Generate reliable financial reports leveraging critical thinking skills to verify their accuracy
Reconcile accounting records proactively and accurately with an eye toward consistently improving the accuracy of all financial records
Utilize strong problem-solving skills to identify necessary accounting entry adjustments based on the output of high level financial reports
Maintain organized, accurate and secure organizational and student finance records at all times
Collaborate with team to produce backup materials and schedules for yearly audits
Monitor and provide updates on accounting standards to ensure compliance with the most updated accounting policies and standards, and develop new and refine current accounting policies and procedures as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
First and foremost, the Student Financial Services Associate must share the team’s sense of urgency about the need to improve student achievement through phenomenal teacher training. Additionally, candidates for the position must have the following:
Bachelors degree, preferably with a quantitative or logical reasoning focus
1-2 years of work experience preferred
Familiarity with GAAP and accrual accounting principles
Strong organizational and communication skills with a service-oriented mentality
Ability to juggle multiple, competing priorities while staying focused on goals
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
A high level of attention to detail
Ability to work efficiently, intensely, and within an entrepreneurial environment
A passion to join a mission-driven organization
Authorized work in the United States
