Administrator – Progressive Christians Uniting – Los Angeles, CA

Progressive Christians Uniting is a network of individuals and congregations focused on theologically-grounded awareness-raising and social justice activism. PCU has been a leader in the areas of mass incarceration, climate justice, and LGBT rights. We seek an administrator who can partner with the executive director as we build momentum around our projects and campaigns. Her/his particular duties will include nonprofit administration, office management, event planning, marketing initiatives, database management, and communication.

PCU needs a solid administrator who will staff the downtown Los Angeles office on a day-to-day basis but who is also ready to function as a creative communicator through designing flyers and logos, and is well-versed in social media. S/he is the lead staff member maintaining and upgrading PCU’s digital presence, including editing and sending out the weekly e-newsletter, expanding PCU’s social media presence, and updating PCU’s website. Through a variety of means, s/he communicates with constituents on participation opportunities and leadership development. Administratively, s/he handles routine phone messages and communications, database management, purchases, equipment and system maintenance, fund transactions, and supporter/donor relations. S/he ensures that supporter mailings and gift acknowledgements are produced and sent out in a timely manner.

Working with the executive director, the administrator takes responsibility for planning and implementing public events presented by PCU, such as trainings, workshops, and lectures. S/he attends to the logistical aspects of all meetings of the PCU board and working teams.

Working with the bookkeeper, the administrator ensures that payments to vendors are made in a timely and accurate fashion and that all funds are properly accounted for. S/he briefs the executive director and board members on the overall status of PCU financial accounts. S/he makes all deposits and handles routine relations with PCU’s bank. The administrator also assists with grant research, writing, and preparation in collaboration with the executive director. While not required, the ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with fundraising and development in a volunteer or professional capacity.

This position requires a person who can work both independently on projects and timelines as well as collaboratively with other staff, allies, and volunteers. Candidates should be able to articulate a faith-rooted identity in social justice commitments. Candidates will need to be able to use the following programs or be trained in them: Raiser’s Edge, Constant Contact, Paypal, iWeb, Hostmonster, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat.

This is a salaried position, with a base salary ranging from $40,000-55,000 and to be determined commensurate with experience and qualifications.
