Assistant Market Manager / Event Planner – Vancouver Farmers Market – Vancouver, WA

The Vancouver Farmers Market is expanding its team by adding a new Assistant Manager/Event Planner position. Our organization is growing very rapidly. With two market locations and an event space under our management, this position will be very dynamic and involved in all parts of our organization. This is the perfect position for someone looking to develop their event or project management skills, gain experience leading staff and be part of a very public and successful organization. This position is very fast paced and requires working outdoors, weekends and with a wide variety of people under minimal supervision.

The skill set entailed in successfully executing this job is wide and diverse; however, the ideal candidate will be driven to succeed with a solid work ethic and the ability to work well in new situations. Strong problem solving and customer service skills are essential in this job. Computer skills are a must (email, Excel, Word, etc) and graphic design or other more technical skills are certainly welcome. Our management team is comprised of a group of smart young professionals passionate not only about creating one of the best markets in the region, but building an organization which will be a cultural leader in our rapidly growing city. This new position must be able to work well alongside other members of the team and support the organization as a whole to reach our goals. The Vancouver Farmers Market is a fast paced and challenging place to work, it is also rewarding and exciting and is a great place to build a strong set of management and leadership skills.

Hours:

This is a year-round/part time (approx. 30 hrs/week) position that has a high likelihood of going to full-time very soon.

Qualifications:

Required:

Valid Driver’s License with clean record

Strong communication and conflict resolution skills

Ability to work weekends during summer season

Desired:

Past experience in Farmers Markets or Event Management

Experience working with volunteers

Knowledge or interest in agriculture or local food

The ability to work across multiple disciplines
