Position Summary: Full time position developing and implementing high impact communications and marketing strategies for the organization. Will work in consultation with the Executive Director and staff to determine priorities for communication with various constituencies of JWW including board members, donors, committee members, synagogues, civic organizations, and interfaith groups. Will staff the Communications and Marketing Committee. Individual will have responsibility for writing and preparing collateral materials for both education and fundraising purposes. Develop and maintain social media presence and websites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and maintain JWW’s Communications Calendar and oversee all tasks associated with its implementation.
Facilitate and/or create the organization’s donor mailings, such as the year-end campaign, holiday appeals, and other fundraising and/or educational pieces, including the timing of the publication, content, and printing. Coordinate with graphics specialist concerning layout and design.
Develop and update JWW’s brochures, project-specific pieces, event collateral, media kits, key messages, fact sheets, and other printed or digital collateral material as needed.
Draft and distribute email blast communications strategically targeted to JWW’s various constituencies concerning all aspects of JWW operations (i.e. programs, special events, fundraising, Walk to End Genocide, and projects of JWW), including writing content, building structure, creating graphics in house or in coordination with graphics specialist, and managing subscriber lists.
Maintain JWW’s website(s), updating current content and designing new content based on organizational needs, from designing ticketing pages for events to petitions for advocacy actions.
Assist in transition to new website platform, finding appropriate designers/firms, facilitating integration(s), and undertaking content overhaul.
Manage organization’s social media presence, creating original content, developing relationships with/sharing content of others in the field, and implementing strategic paid advertising campaigns on appropriate platforms.
Catalogue and maintain graphics, photo and video library for internal and external use.
Create and coordinate public speaking engagements with/for agency spokespeople.
Working with Committee Chair, prepare agenda for Marketing and Communications Committee, attend all meetings, and assist with identifying media opportunities/stories and coordination of media outreach and coverage with media releases, TV/radio interviews, feature stories, PSA’s , press conferences.
Qualifications:
BA or higher degree in marketing, public or media relations, communications, or related field. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in related field required.
Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Exceptional editing skills.
Professional experience with electronic media such as websites, e- newsletters, social media, etc. required.
Working knowledge of email platforms like Mailchimp and website platforms like WordPress required.
Design/layout experience preferred.
Coding experience preferred.
Knowledge of the Jewish community and social justice work preferred.
Highly organized.
Detail and results oriented.
Ability to creatively find solutions to challenges.
Ability to anticipate, manage and resolve conflicts.
Team player with leadership skills, ability and desire to interact with people at all levels.
Demonstrated effectiveness in a non- profit environment.
Ability to work with community partners.
Reports to Executive Director.
Occasional domestic travel required.
This is a salaried, exempt position based in Los Angeles.
JWW is closed for major secular and Jewish holidays.
