Manages CLARE’s communications, marketing, and branding efforts, with an emphasis on implementation of the strategic communications plan. Manages grant writing and reporting for foundation and community funders in order to achieve the department’s annual goals. Oversees a full-time Grant Writer position, which performs both fundraising and communications activities, as needed.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and conduct research and writing of grant proposals to foundation, corporate, and community funders.
Oversee and conduct ongoing research of prospects, including foundation, corporate, and community funders.
Manage and fulfill reporting, invoicing, proper donor recognition, and other contract requirements as specified by funders.
Work with Director of Development and Communications to oversee training and growth of Grant Writer position.
Gather and organize budget information for institution and specific programs for use in proposals and reports.
Work with program and executive staff to ensure current, accurate, and persuasive articulation of CLARE programs and activities. Regularly attends meetings pertinent to this as assigned.
Initiate and maintain positive relationships with funders and prospects through phone calls, correspondence, meetings, tours, and presentations.
Maintain organized electronic and hard copy files; maintain up-to-date calendar/solicitation report of all prospects.
Prepare and stay current with income projections for the grants and communications areas.
Keep most recent contact information, guidelines, and annual reports for foundation and government donors.
Manage CLARE’s strategic communications activities according to strategic communications plan. Responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining cohesive organizational visual identity and branding
Working to position CLARE as an opinion leader in the field of substance abuse recovery
Increasing CLARE’s media presence on a national level
Work with private treatment staff to promote awareness of CLARE’s private treatment initiatives
Oversee all CLARE print and web materials; maintain style and quality guidelines of text and materials.
Develop and facilitate printing of written materials such as brochures, special event materials, press releases, and newsletters.
Manage maintenance and updating of website.
Develop and maintain relationships with media on local and national levels.
Develop and maintain database of media and stories pertinent to CLARE’s mission.
Write, edit and proofread other CLARE written materials as assigned.
Works as a team member on Development Department activities such as fundraising events.
Maintain good work habits including promptness, adherence to CLARE workplace policies, preparedness for meetings and events, and responsive follow-through on all donor, supervisor, and staff requests.
Qualifications:
Strong communication skills (verbal, written and telephone), strong computer/database skills. Impeccable editing and proofreading skills (knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style preferred). Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Creativity and initiative. Ability to work quickly, to prioritize and to handle multiple projects. Proficiency in general administrative tasks. Experience in layout and print programs.
