The SHPE Corporate Relations Manager will work with the Sr. Director to identify, cultivate and solicit corporate prospects to secure financial support for SHPE’s priorities. The CR manager will support the Corporate and Foundation team’s mission to increase engagement and funding from top national corporations developing well-positioned cases for support, letter of intent and corporate proposals. The position will collaborate with the programs teams to support execution of deliverables.
As a member of the Corporate and Foundation relations the Corporate Relations Manager is responsible for securing over $1 million in annual revenue from corporate partners that participate in the SHPE Corporate Partnership Program and event sponsorship. The Corporate Relations Manager is a strategic and creative thinker with strong presentation skills to communicate effectively with corporate partners, potential funders, board members and other constituents. The Manager has a solid track record of growing revenue for a company/organization, cultivating new and existing relationships, and is an extremely organized individual who can be flexible in responding to the needs of a fast moving nonprofit organization. The right candidate has a full understanding of the client relationship lifecycle and will implement strategies to deepen engagement and support programs in ensuring deliverables are executed.
Duties include developing and maintaining solid relationships with the organization’s corporate partners, securing new corporate partners and selling sponsorship opportunities to existing corporate partners & sponsors. This full-time exempt position reports to the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
Desired Skills and Experience
Ability to develop and implement strategies for corporate outreach and to manage a portfolio of 50 partners, and 10 to 20 strong prospects for our partnership council, while tracking activity and success against goals.
Demonstrated expertise in persuasive writing, in order to develop concept papers, cases for support and successful, complex grant proposals that clearly articulate the need for funding and the significance of the program and align with funding priorities.
Knowledge of major gifts and grants fundraising principles and practices.
Knowledge of accounting and budget preparation principles and practices is preferred.
Knowledge of corporate and foundation fundraising techniques and strategies.
Existing relationships with corporate and foundation funders and the business community.
Demonstrated ability to research and analyze a variety of reference materials in order to compile, evaluate and disseminate data on corporate and foundation funding sources.
Entrepreneurial initiative, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks and highly collaborative relationships with initiative and independence.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and work effectively under pressure.
Proficiency with computer software for word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and calendars, preferably Microsoft Office Suite, as well as with the internet and Advance or similar fundraising database software.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
Cultivate strong corporate partnerships by building relationships with contacts to fully engage, and increase support and interest in growing their SHPE funding, their organizational participation and advancing their relationship with the organization.
Cross-functional collaboration with programs team to ensure execution of benefits
Commence business development to create a Corporate Partnership Program prospect pipeline.
Initiate innovative ideas to generate new revenue and develop compelling presentations and proposals.
Develop and execute plan(s), which maximize partnerships through U.S., that secure funding, while also delivering on the partners’ business goals.
Serve as primary contact for the Corporate Partnership Program, coordinating all internal and external resources to ensure the benefits/sponsorships are effectively executed.
Manage the communication program and schedule in place for the Corporate Partnership Program.
Close sponsorships and negotiate contract agreements.
Provide client information and reports to Sr. Director, Corporate and Foundation and CEO.
Mandatory Job Qualifications
Minimum Education: Bachelors degree required
Job Experience required:
At least 5+ years of corporate relations and client relations experience
Significant relationship building, revenue/profit responsibility, and partnership management experience
Proven ability to generate revenue growth, and the ability to identify new opportunities in a strategic manner
Work Environment:
Fast-paced
25-35% Travel
Attendance at national conferences & Quarterly Corporate Partnership Program meetings is mandatory.
