Responsibilities:
We are seeking a qualified individual to coordinate Self-Help Federal’s fundraising work in California. The Grants Associate will be supervised by the Manager of Community Engagement and work closely with the credit union’s Team Leaders as well as the Development, Policy and Impact (DPI) team in North Carolina to coordinate fundraising solicitations, prospect for new funders, cultivate relationships, write proposals, and draft reports. Furthermore, the Grants Associate will assist in tracking these efforts through our CRM system and help coordinate with other team members or operational staff should additional follow-up be necessary.
The Grants Associate will need to develop the following in order to be successful: 1) a clear understanding of Self-Help Federal’s priorities, 2) knowledge of our current foundation relationships, including each funder’s priorities and expectations, 3) a solid understanding of the programs being funded, and 4) the ability to communicate effectively internally with program managers, loan officers, accounting and other support staff and externally with foundation staff and non-profit partners.
Additionally, the Grants Associate will be expected to contribute to a range of team-related activities that may include support for strategic communications, special event planning, and other miscellaneous tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of professional experience
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Facile use of spreadsheets and databases
Strong organizational and communication skills
Excellent customer service
Desired Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Grants Associate positon will present with a solid foundation of written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and project management skills, attention to detail, data analysis ability, as well as proficiency in dealing with CRM applications. The ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team and an interest in our mission of community development and economic justice are also highly desirable qualities. The Grants Associate will leverage this skillset with an evolving, on-the-job orientation on Self-Help’s programs and a growing understanding of the marketplace in which they operate.
