Devlopment Director – El Nido Family Centers – Mission Hills, CA

El Nido Family Centers a non-profit social service agency has an exciting opportunity for Development Director to oversee our Development Department.

Position Summary:

Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Development Director oversees all fundraising and development activities at El Nido Family Centers. The Development Director will work closely with the Board of Directors and support Board members in their active fundraising role, including providing or arranging for capacity building training. The successful candidate will grow El Nido’s $11M budget through the management of fundraising events, cultivation of donors, year-end campaign, solicitation of major gifts and grassroots contributions, corporate sponsors and foundation support. The Development Director manages a small staff and works collaboratively with EL Nido’s grant writer and PR Consultant.

Essential Duties:

Planning & Management

In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Board Fund Development Committee, develop and execute El Nido’s annual fund development plan; manage a small staff; supervise volunteer recruitment, particularly as it relates to fundraising; oversees volunteer recruitment and works closely with the Development Coordinator to ensure relationships are developed and maintained with current/past and corporate volunteers.

Fundraising Events & Activities

Support and partner with the Executive Director and Board members on all major fundraising initiatives; initiate and/or follow up on securing financial support from major donors, grassroots supporters, and foundation and corporate sponsors; assist with writing proposals and reports for foundation and corporate grants; and maintain a strong Case for Giving .

Donor Cultivation

In collaboration with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and consultants, create and execute a strategy for increasing El Nido’s base of individual, corporate and foundation donors;

Maintain on-going relationships with major donors; ensure all contributions are accurately recorded and responded to promptly; conduct an on-going analysis of donor giving and supervise the preparation of reports for presentation to Board members and senior staff.

Promotion/Public Relations

Represents El Nido at networking and other events in the funding community; assist with the development of promotional materials and social media activities; and mobilize the development and effective promotion of successful fundraising events

Board Relations

Meet individually with board members annually to ensure their full participation in all fundraising activities; and provide fundraising analysis and statistics on a regular basis to the board.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in development; excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong promotional and presentation skills; strategic team building abilities, with innovation and creativity; and excellent interpersonal skills with outstanding networking and outreach capability; familiarity with donor databases and local individual, corporate and foundation donors are a plus; experience writing proposals and reports for foundation and corporate grants are preferred; possession of a car, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance; flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
