San Francisco Opera is seeking a candidate who is fueled by a passion for the performing arts and who will help us grow our online community and our digital content. Their work will appeal to current patrons as well as inspire and attract a new audience of opera lovers. This cross-functional position will oversee and maintain the Company’s digital voice and brand, both on our website and on all of our social media channels. Guided by our editorial and brand standards, the Digital Content Manager will serve as the buck-stops-here authority on all web content decisions and ensure that all content needs are met and being published according to a pre-determined schedule.
Reporting to the Director of Audience Engagement, this is a full-time, Exempt position eligible to participate in the Company benefits package.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) or equivalent work experience
Minimum four (4) years of experience in marketing, social media content creation, and working with a content management system, with proven success in growing online engagement with patrons and fans
Knowledge of the principles and practices of social media, marketing, and web content creation
Prior experience with opera and/or performing arts organizations
Possess outstanding attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office products and database navigation
Proficiency with AP and Chicago Manual of Style
Exemplary diplomacy, problem-solving and teamwork skills
Must be able to set priorities; coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, successfully meet firm deadlines
Establish working relationships and interact effectively with a wide range of people internally and externally
Ability to take initiative, manage time, stay organized and work independently
Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Background in graphic design
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manages relationships with content producers to acquire and publish web content to meet our Company goals
Ensures clear and consistent messaging, voice, and brand across all channels, including web and social media campaigns
Maintains and enforces editorial, tone and style guidelines on the website and on Company social media channels
Chairs an internal website committee and works with it and key Company stakeholders to develop and maintain a cross-channel web editorial calendar and enforce its deadlines
Edits, proofreads, reviews and writes (as needed) new web content with the Maestro Committee
Aggregates and curates new content for inclusion on the website
Works with Marketing, Development, Media and other departments to deploy campaigns on the website which support our Company goals
Sets analytics goals for campaigns and activities and monitors progress against key performance indicators
Oversees all social media content and channels for the Company and works to drive engagement, widen online fanbase and generate imaginative digital content
Manages Social Media team and ensures that the team engages in conversation, responds to feedback and provides customer service to SF Opera patrons on all of our social media platforms
Uses a strong graphic editorial eye when looking at the visual assets of the website, and identifies key visual needs for the website
Works with Director of Audience Engagement to create new short-form media content for website and social that supports our Company goals
Works with Director of Audience Engagement to identify, test and implement innovative projects and products that can deepen engagement with our existing audience and help build new audiences
With Director of Wilsey Programming, designs and executes social media strategies and ensures the web content for the Atrium Theater aligns with overall Company guidelines
Partners with key staff, volunteer leadership and appropriate resources as needed to meet department objectives
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Occasional night and weekend hours will be required
