Director of Development – Art Students League of New York

The Art Students League of New York (the “League”) is looking for a Director of Development to plan, lead, and manage all of the League’s fundraising efforts.

This position will report directly to the Executive Director (ED) and work closely with both the ED and CFO to develop a comprehensive and strategic development plan that targets and raises funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the Director of Development will prepare quarterly Board meeting presentations and supporting documents of all development activities.

This position will manage a portfolio of 100-150 major donors and prospects and help identify and qualify prospective donors. In addition, the Director of Development will develop strategic and long-term cultivation strategies for individual & planned giving, institutional/corporate gift sponsors, donors, and prospects.

This position will manage a small support staff and collaborate with other internal managers involved in development-related initiatives.

Job Qualifications:

BA or BS from an accredited College or University required; an MA in nonprofit management, public relations, fundraising, or business administration highly desired.
10+ years of development/fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization; a history of progressively responsible experience in development fundraising managing staff and budgets.
Nonprofit experience in the field of art and/or education a plus.
Demonstrated success in planning, implementing, and managing multiple projects to achieve annual objectives.
