Job Title: Employment Specialist
Reports To: Director of Employment Services
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under direct supervision of the Director of Employment Services, assist with the employment generating activities including, employer outreach and recruitment of business partners and participating employers to support job seekers of Trainees, Community Clients and other Homeboy Industries (HBI) program participants. Implement the job search and trainee marketing plans to secure employment opportunities for HBI program participants. Conduct job development/placement activities using local labor market information, industry collaborative partnerships using tax incentives, subsidized and unsubsidized methodologies. Provide employment readiness, employer outreach, job retention, work maturity and follow-up services for HBI program participants.
Key Duties
**
Create, develop and conduct job development plan for assigned participants.
Provide employers with recruitment assistance, pre-screening, candidates, and customized referrals.
Provide HBI employers with access to Work Experience, On-the-Job training, Customized Training, tax credit information and other business resources available through linkages with WorkSource Centers, Chambers of Commerce, Business Services Centers and other workforce development and business/industry linkages.
Assist in the delivery of employment readiness training for HBI program participants.
Assist in the delivery of career counseling, world of work and labor market information.
Provide direct placement assistance including job referral, and employer outreach.
Employer development to identify perform participant follow ups and documentation all job placement activities in a timely manner.
Develop career track related On-the-Job Training opportunities with business and industry.
Plan and facilitate the delivery of Job Fairs, Targeted Recruitments and Hiring Events for HBI program participants
Conduct business outreach, designed to develop and obtain suitable employment opportunities, externships work experience and other workplace learning opportunities.
Maintain constant knowledge of local labor market, growth industries sectors, and employment trends
Develop and update participant EDP, and other required employment services documentation in a timely manner as required.
Provide job development report data as required by Employment Services Management
Perform other employment development/job placement work-related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications include:
2 Year College Degree in Business Marketing, Sales, Communication, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field. Preferred
5 Years prior experience in the field of employment and training, marketing, sales, human resources. Required.
Computer literacy in Word-processing and spreadsheet p2 Year College Degree in Business Marketing, Sales, Communication, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field. Preferred

Computer literacy in Word-processing and spreadsheet programs. Required
Communication Skills: The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documentation, procedures. Ability to present report information in a narrative, statistical and oral presentations. Required
