DESCRIPTION
This new position will strengthen our increasingly successful Major Gifts operation, helping to drive over $4M in revenue annually. The position will coordinate support of our front-line fundraisers, develop compelling funding opportunities across departments, produce professional and polished donor reports and collateral, plan and execute fundraising and awareness events, and brainstorm and develop new ways to engage our growing group of major donors. This position requires a person who can balance turning projects around quickly and accurately in a team setting, while also maintaining momentum on long-term organizational efforts.
Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Associate is part of a three-person fundraising team who all work directly with the President of the organization, board members, and directors of other departments across the globe.
The Major Gifts Associate will:
Proactively support the Director of Major Gifts, President, board members, and many others in soliciting donations to support Worldreader’s operations and special projects.
Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of funding opportunities for major donors, but also available to foundations, corporations and institutional partnerships.
Collaborate across departments to identify and develop new donor engagement and fundraising opportunities.
Produce beautiful collateral for the Major Gifts team, including proposals and updates for individual donors, and more general pieces for mass communications.
Lead the planning and execution of small events and assist with coordinating any larger events.
Maintain major donor information and coordinate with team to produce meaningful reports and analysis.
Maintain a working and up-to-the-minute knowledge or Worldreader’s news and progress across all departments, including awareness of broader and relevant issues in the international development community.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have experience working in non-profit development or a corporate sales environment, though attitude, energy and enthusiasm are even more important. A candidate with strong experience should expect to independently lead multiple projects. A candidate new to the non-profit sector should arrive eager to learn quickly and work hard.
