Since bursting onto the Atlanta scene, Synchronicity has produced gutsy, high-quality and entertaining plays that resonate with our audience, our community and our lives. We support the work of women. We take artistic chances to make our audiences think about important issues. We partner with community groups to deepen the relationship between our audiences and the work. Synchronicity operates a vital theatre space in the heart of midtown Atlanta.
Synchronicity is hiring a full-time Managing Director to build on a strong 18 year reputation for creating great theatre and building community in the Atlanta area. In a staff of 5 full-time people, this position is highly collaborative and will work closely with the Producing Artistic Director to take Synchronicity to the next level.
MANAGING DIRECTOR: *FULL-TIME POSITION
Managing Director Reports to: Board of Directors and works alongside the Producing Artistic Director (PAD).
The Managing Director directs all aspects of financial and business operations of the organization, from both a strategic and operational perspective, including long-range and annual planning and budget in collaboration with PAD and the board. The Managing Director will assist in creating and executing long-range earned income and fundraising strategies to help sustain the fiscal and operational health of the organization. Managing Director is responsible for monthly financial reporting including budget performance and accurate cash flow projections, as well as oversight of bookkeeping activities and box office reporting.
Other responsibilities include:
Providing leadership in fundraising, development and grant reporting
Management of Board relationships and engagement
Oversight of contractual obligations on behalf of theatre (with Board approval and collaboration with PAD)
Supervising administration of theatre and theatre staff
Managing operations and maintenance of physical premises, including leasing operations for theatre beyond Synchronicity programs, and
Acting as representative and advocate for the theatre for external relationships.
Key competencies include outstanding verbal communication skills, financial competency, staff and business management, negotiating contracts and managing leases, and cultivation of high-level funders and donors. Preference for candidate with grants/fundraising experience (especially in reporting/grants management); arts marketing experience, including understanding of social media and new technologies; Required proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs. Experience working closely with a board and a collaborative staffing model highly preferred.
At least five years of management experience and a four-year degree required. Experience in the arts preferred. The ability to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team is key. Ideal candidate must be a great communicator, organized, creative and detail-oriented.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR: *FULL-TIME POSITION
The Development Director is responsible for implementing all fundraising activities to meet annual development goals for the company. Annually, this includes developing an annual plan; running 5-6 special events; cultivating individual donors; implementing our annual giving campaign; developing and shepherding corporate sponsors; and writing 45-50 foundation, corporate and government grants.
Key competencies include outstanding writing and verbal communication skills, grant management experience, organizational skills, and advanced computer skills, including experience with fundraising database programs and Microsoft Office suite of programs. Experience working closely with donors and board members required. Experience researching and cultivating prospective funding sources required. Proficiency with Tessitura highly preferred.
At least two years of fundraising experience and four-year degree required. Experience in the arts preferred. The ability to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team is key. Ideal candidate must be a great communicator, organized, creative and detail-oriented.
