Marketing / Development Assistant – Sofia Sees Hope – Ledyard Center, CT

Sofia Sees Hope is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of those affected by blindness caused by inherited retinal disease by driving awareness and raising funds for diagnosis, treatment, and cures.

We are seeking a part-time consultant or volunteer for the position of Development & Marketing Assistant. This position reports to the Executive Director of Sofia Sees Hope, and works in close coordination with the Committee for Institutional Advancement.

This is a part time position, with an estimated 10 hours per week.

Development Responsibilities

Maintain database including updating of new donors, donations, pledges, and prospects across all inbound channels: direct mail, online web, email, social, and events.
Prepare donations for accountant by copying and coding donations.
Provide monthly reporting on database updates and donor growth.
Implement annual campaign mailing, track results, send acknowledgements and enter in database.
Send donor receipts and thank you notes.
Develop procedural playbook as reference for key events (Dinner in the Dark, Concert fundraisers).

Marketing Responsibilities

Coordinate mailings and communications with donors, founders, and advisors including e-blasts and/or direct mail setup, merges, and follow-up thank you notes.
Post 2 to 3 times per week to social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter).
Coordinate event mailings including setup, merges, and follow-up thank you notes.
Update and refresh “resources” section of website, and other pages (photos, events) as assigned.
Provide event support such as registration, venue coordination, sponsor and auction solicitations as assigned.
Draft press releases, maintain media lists and coordinate PR activities with sponsors/supporters.
Provide advertising support, including media and billing information, insertion orders and tracking.
Coordinate production of marketing collateral materials as needed.

Board Support

Attend Board of Director meetings and draft meeting minutes.
Maintain board calendar, contact lists, binder and general communications as assigned.

Qualifications:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
Bachelor’s degree; may substitute with relevant experience.
At least two years prior administrative experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
Prior experience managing a donor database.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word; Excel; PowerPoint)
