Monthly Giving Coordinator – Farm Sanctuary – Los Angeles, CA

The Monthly Giving Coordinator is a member of Farm Sanctuary’s Development department. This team of staff plays a key role in the organization’s ability to maintain a multi-million dollar budget and make great strides in achieving its mission through rescue, education, and advocacy efforts.

The Monthly Giving Coordinator will be responsible for the execution and maintenance of all monthly giving initiatives as well as several special giving projects. This includes the Sanctuary Sustainer Program as well as the Adopt a Farm Animal Program which offers members a chance to build relationships with our animal residents while helping to fund our mission.

This is an excellent position for someone who is a passionate animal rights advocate and wants to build a nonprofit career. With work split between administrative work and donor interactions, the ideal candidate will love talking to members and supporters, be a self-starter with a keen attention to detail, be comfortable working with a high level of autonomy and motivated to brainstorm strategies for program improvements.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Adopt A Farm Animal Program (AAFA)
Outreach/Marketing
Identify opportunities to promote AAFA to current Farm Sanctuary supporters and new constituencies
Select animals to feature and themes for a variety of appeals and promotions
Write copy for appeals and newsletter features
Serve as primary point of contact for current and new AAFA sponsors, providing the highest level of donor service
Reach out to lapsed sponsors on an ongoing basis with a multi-channel approach (calls/emails/mail)
Conduct annual call project to program participants & thank you calls to $100+ sponsorship donations
Administration/Project Coordination
Coordinate daily AAFA orders & fulfill sponsor packets
Send all sponsor correspondence
Maintain detailed records on all current sponsors
Coordinate animals in program
Maintain photos, rescue story, and personal traits
Add and remove animals from program as necessary
Working closely with Shelter and Communications departments, write new animal stories, health updates, death letters, and other program communications
Co-coordinate bi-annual AAFA newsletter with Communications department
Work with Development Manager to determine and execute additional program upgrades
Sanctuary Sustainer Program (SSP)
Outreach/Marketing
Work with Development staff and outside vendors to plan and execute campaigns to sign up recurring monthly donors
Develop and implement proactive strategies to retain soon to be or currently lapsed sustainers on monthly basis with a multi-channel approach (calls/emails/mail)
Engage with sustainers to ensure their satisfaction with the program and Farm Sanctuary
Conduct annual call project to program participants & thank you calls to $100+ sponsorship donations
Administration/Project Coordination
Process daily new SSP donations
Maintain detailed records on all new, current, and lapsed SSP members
Coordinate annual postcard and calendar mailings to SSP members
Manage AAFA/SSP conversion to Farm Sanctuary’s membership database; maintain/update protocol and oversee hard file transfer to membership database
Identify areas to streamline and consolidate data tracking, and implement changes
Work with Development Manager to determine and execute additional program upgrades
Rainbow Bridge Memorial Program
Fulfill requests for memorial gifts
Coordinate memorial stone engraving and placement at Rainbow Bridge Memorial site
Telemarketing Campaign Support
Monitor telemarketing campaigns for quality and adherence to Farm Sanctuary mission
Provide training for external telemarketing callers
Process donations received through telemarketing campaigns in a timely manner.
Volunteer Supervision
Screen applications and perform interviews with prospective volunteers
Act as primary supervisor to Development volunteers & interns
Ensure volunteers have a positive experience
Assist with other Development projects/tasks as needed

Qualifications:

Strong computer skills; demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets and database software preferred
Strong donor service skills; this position requires daily interaction with donors and an understanding of positive donor relations
Experience with donor-centric database such as Raiser’s Edge or Revolution Online
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong project management skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle confidential information and ensure compliance with all security requirements
Resourcefulness and the ability to work independently
Cruelty-free lifestyle — To represent organizational mission in member relations, the candidate must be vegetarian/vegan; if vegetarian, the candidate must be aspiring to a vegan lifestyle by the time of accepting this position
Previous experience in an office setting required
Previous fundraising experience strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Job Specifications:

Full-time, non exempt position
Position is based at a Farm Sanctuary office, with preference for Watkins Glen, NY or Los Angeles, CA, Candidates in the Washington, DC or New York, NY metro areas will be considered. Due to the nature of the responsibilities, telecommuting is not an option for this position.
