Program Analyst – Special Service for Groups – Los Angeles, CA

SSG is a nonprofit organization that delivers a wide range of social service programs across Southern California. Under the direction of the Development Director, the Program Analyst will assist in the development and coordination of SSG programs, including but not limited to short/long range planning; background research and data analysis; program development; grant writing; and contract management support.

Essential Functions

Provide research and analysis for assigned projects related to strategic planning, program development, proposal writing, and contract management.

Provide consultation and technical assistance to SSG divisions in the development of program strategies.

Assist in the development of new initiatives and fundraising/development plans.

Research and cultivate funding opportunities for various SSG divisions and programs.

Participate in all levels of the proposal development process including facilitating program design in collaboration with program staff

Prepare and complete funding proposals, including but not limited to:

Background research on community need and evidence-based/best practices.

Writing program narrative and rationale/justification.

Budgeting.

Drafting/collecting supporting materials.

Completing required forms.

Proposal assembly in compliance with funder requirements.

As assigned, provide contract management support to assigned SSG programs including but not limited to budgeting, fiscal tracking, coordinating subcontract agreements, and ensuring compliance with all aspects of a contract/grant.

Liaison and facilitate communication between SSG divisions, SSG fiscal, SSG Human Resources, and/or funding agencies and other authorities.

Provide project information, program data, and regular reports and recommendations to the Executive Management Team, as assigned.

Maintain relationships and network with other organizations that serve the agency’s targeted communities.

Represent the agency in a variety of community settings including funder, provider and community meetings and major events.

Secondary Functions

Ability to perform duties on some weekday evenings and weekend days when required.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Masters degree (preferably a Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration or related field).

Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to staff of a variety of cultures, languages, and educational backgrounds.

Ability to identify, analyze, and synthesize research on a variety of human-service related topics.

Computer skills in use of MS Office suite programs.

Knowledge of needs, strengths, and other characteristics of agency target communities, including ethnic minority groups, individuals and families living in poverty, and individuals living with behavioral health issues.

Knowledge of local, state & Federal government programs and foundations.

Verification of employment eligibility and background check required.

Valid California driver license, proof of Car Insurance, and reliable transportation required.

Regular attendance.

Non Essential Qualifications – Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Experience in program development, planning and grant writing strong preferred.

Computer skills in database applications, web applications, and/or publishing programs.

Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The incumbent in this position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions):

The environment for this position is an office environment. Driving is required, and own transportation is required.

Physical Requirements:

In the course of performing this job, there will be driving, walking and sitting required.

Mental Requirements:

The incumbent in this position must be able to think, conceptualize and handle stress and to accommodate all of the following: constant distractions, interruptions; and uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules.
