Position Overview
This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced manager that thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Kevah’s core programs, including supervising the Program Team, developing programs strategy, and building relationships throughout the communities served. As Kevah becomes a national organization, the Program Director will be on the front lines of this next phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee Kevah Groups and Related Programs
Direct all operations related to running Kevah Groups and other programs.
Program operations. Oversee launch and management of all Kevah Groups, ensuring smooth group dynamics; handle escalations from staff; troubleshoot challenges while also working to anticipate and prevent them in advance.
Supervision. Supervise program staff, hiring and staffing the program team to ensure program success.
Workflows. Ensure that educator matching process is effectively handled, that relationships are nurtured at partnerships organizations, that information is effectively tracked, and that registration, tuition, and evaluations are effective and working smoothly.
Grant management. Act as project manager for implementing grants related to Kevah Groups program, overseeing milestone tracking, status update meetings, and proving data for grant reports, with assistance from Kevah Groups staff. Give input to Executive Director and Development team on grant proposals that involve programs, including details related to program structure, budget, and staffing.
Communications. Work with the Communications team to ensure Kevah’s monthly newsletter, website updates, and other program materials are coordinated with program needs.
Oversee Program Infrastructure
Kevah is a young organization experiencing rapid growth, so a key piece of this position includes creating new systems, as well as continuously improving the infrastructure currently in place.
Continuous improvement. Identify areas for improvement, propose and manage solutions, and implement improvements, creating systems that can be scaled nationally.
Database. Oversee technical staff (Salesforce platform) to ensure system and workflows are in place and operating efficiently.
Workflows. Ensure processes are maintained for managing communications with key stakeholders, including outreach, screening, on-boarding, off-boarding, assignments, training, coaching and evaluations.
Reporting. Utilize metrics, dashboards and reports to evaluate the success of Kevah’s programs.
Oversee Organizational Partnerships
Strategic development. In collaboration with Director of Education, develop strategic vision for Kevah’s partnership with other organizations, and protocols for implementation.
Cultivation of partnerships leads. Serve as primary contact for program-related partner inquiries, providing relevant information, negotiating and closing contracts. Connect these organizational partners with other Kevah staff as needed. Make determinations as to the viability of the partnership moving forward.
Relationship management. In collaboration with Director of Education, manage partner relationships and handle escalations from others as needed; help develop protocols for clear and effective relationship-building and relationship management with potential partners.
Support Kevah’s Growth and Outreach
Represent Kevah in the community. Serve as a face, voice, and spokesperson for Kevah, building strong working relationships with institutions and individuals in the community.
Program expansion. Work closely with Executive Director to brainstorm, guide, and develop new projects, ideas, and presentation materials.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum 5 years’ management experience directing programs and demonstrated success overseeing client/customer support efforts
Familiarity with and strong interest in Jewish learning and/or culture
Excellent communication skills
Strong leadership; capacity to successfully motivate and manage direct reports; strong hiring and supervision skills
Strong attention to detail and capacity to work on multiple simultaneous projects
Ability to work in fast-paced environment
Excellent listening skills, with an acute understanding of social dynamics in both a group setting and between individuals
Talented as a trouble-shooter and skilled problem solver
Good team player, enjoys working in close cooperation with other staff, in shared office space

This is a full-time exempt position. Benefits include medical insurance (employee premiums fully paid), as well as paid sick, vacation, and generous holiday schedule including Jewish holidays. Kevah’s main office is near Rose and Shattuck in north Berkeley, about a 15 minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART, and close to several bus lines.
