Purpose: The U.S. Operations Manager has both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from volunteer project management to administrative duties. The person serves as an ambassador for the organization and continuously builds relationships with new and existing donors and volunteers. This role is responsible for setting and guiding the strategy for all communications and will develop and implement an internship program to directly manage these varied, yet integrated responsibilities. The U.S. Operations Manager partners closely with the Executive Director to assure Corazón’s future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organization’s services. A successful UOM will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the potential that each volunteer, donor or member of the team brings to the mission. While it is essential to implement efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity of the organization, a creative, flexible and solutions oriented environment is also critical.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
The organization’s volunteer and donor base is increased by:
Recruiting, supporting and thanking new and existing volunteers and donors.
Facilitating successful volunteer committees and volunteer leadership roles.
Assuring special events, such as fundraisers, speaking engagements and volunteer trainings, are carried out successfully.
The organization’s brand and long and short-term needs are clearly communicated by:
Creating and implementing a successful communications strategy.
Preparing announcements, appeals and campaigns via email blasts, social media and printed materials.
Maintaining an up-to-date and relevant website.
Presenting a thorough understanding of the intricate workings of the Comunidad Corazón programs in Mexico.
The US office is successfully managed by:
Scheduling groups and construction leaders for projects and organizing the yearly construction calendar and build sponsor logistics.
Updating the donor and volunteer information system.
Responding to general correspondence and inquiries.
Tracking monetary and in-kind donations, making bank deposits and writing checks.
Fulfilling daily administrative tasks related to office equipment, technology, vendor contracts and other facility needs.
Following through with tasks related to the Mexico office.
Coordinating the delivery and pick-up of in-kind donations and keeping the garage organized.
All of the aforementioned responsibilities and additional organizational needs are supported by a thriving internship program by:
Developing and implementing the internship program.
Motivating and supervising interns.
Communicating the impact and success of the internship program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or AA as minimum requirement.
3-5 years of experience with non-profit experience a strong plus.
Demonstrated experience in identifying, initiating and nurturing, relationships with volunteers, donors and team members.
Belief in and commitment to building a just and equitable society by empowering others and supporting programs which strengthen the capacities of individuals and families in marginalized communities in Mexico.
Skills:
Excellent oral skills in person, on the phone and in front of small and large groups.
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and proofread grammatically correct written materials.
Proficiency in computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database software, etc.).
Basic management and understanding of financial documents and spreadsheets.
