Vice President, Resource Development and Marketing – Colorado Coalition for the Homeless – Denver, CO

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks a Vice President of Resource Development and Marketing, responsible for all fundraising, marketing and development activities to help forge new relationships, build visibility, impact, and financial resources. The VP, Resource Development and Marketing serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in strategic decision making affecting the agency. The position is located at CCH offices located at 2111 Champa St., Denver, CO 80205. The position reports to the President and CEO.

Primary Responsibilities

In coordination with the President and executive staff, develop, plan and implement a comprehensive development strategy to support CCH’s organizational priorities through federal, state and municipal grants, special events, capital campaigns, major gifts, planned gifts, corporate and foundation giving and growth of the annual fund through direct mail, online fundraising and United Way campaigns.
Oversee all aspects of relationship management with funders and donors to ensure prompt communication, accurate proposal submissions, executive approval of organizational commitments, appropriate recognition and publicity, and fulfillment of reporting obligations.
Create annual communications plan for donors, funders, volunteers, and external constituents who may impact organizational support. Partner with Education & Advocacy Department (E&A) to ensure streamlined messaging and consistent branding for all external communications, media releases and responses.
Develop and disseminate marketing materials, including but not limited to: annual report, newsletters, direct mail, brochures, online communications, and advertising (print, radio, television and social media channels) in coordination with E&A Department. Oversee cause marketing, co-branded campaigns, and oversee social media campaigns in conjunction with E&A.
Work with members of CCH’s Board of Directors and key volunteers to maximize their fundraising efforts. Identify and recruit prospective board members. Manage Resource Development & Marketing Board Committee; cultivate new members and support existing members in their activities.
Oversee prospect identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, recognition and stewardship practices to expand and diversify CCH’s donor base/pipeline.
Direct policy and procedures for gift acceptance, gift processing, record keeping, tax documentation, and donor/funder acknowledgement in compliance with IRS regulations.
Oversee volunteer program, including developing volunteer opportunities, program promotion and stewardship. Ensure mandatory data collection of non-clinical volunteers.
Monitor fundraising and marketing data; provide and present statistical analysis and trends to executive team and Board of Directors. Evaluate progress toward annual and long-term goals.
Coach and supervise the Resource Development & Marketing team to ensure that their efforts are highly effective, professional and concentrated towards the overall objectives of the department. Develop and implement quality assurance through routine evaluation techniques and activities.
Participate in the development of organizational revenue budget, annual and long-term fundraising goals. Monitor departmental revenue and expenditures.
Maintain effective interdepartmental relationships, especially with Education and Advocacy.

Qualifications Summary

Minimum of ten (10) years of professional development and marketing experience in a nonprofit setting; experience with capital campaigns, events, planned giving and government grants preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required, CFRE and/or Master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated success in a development function managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources and securing gifts/grants of $1,000,000 +.
Experience cultivating strong donor/funder relations and increasing support from current funding sources.
Able to work effectively with volunteers, professional and business leaders, and to speak effectively to individuals and groups.
Experience in developing effective print, video and online marketing materials.
Knowledge and understanding of fundraising trends and opportunities, including social media tools.
Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.
Ability to work both independently without close oversight, and productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside CCH.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Strong supervisory skills.
Ability to construct, articulate and implement annual strategic development plan.
Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.
