Title: Assistant Camp Director
Supervisor(s): Director of After School & Summer Camp
General Responsibilities: (S)he will assist the Program Director in developing, implementing, and managing the summer day camp and will assume responsibilities and authority of the Program Director in his/her absence. (S)he is responsible for being aware of any behavioral/medical needs of our participants and will work with the Camp Director, Health Director and Counselors to maintain a safe, healthy and engaging environment for all staff, volunteers and campers.
Specific Duties: Plan and implement staff trainings/meetings, in conjunction with Camp Director and Health Director. Plan with the Program Director to ensure that all activities for children are age appropriate and supervise implementation by staff; respond to any ill/injured child if the Health Director is off-site or unavailable; assist Camp Director (and assume these responsibilities when Director is off-site) in maintaining administrative paperwork and in the daily operations of camp including, but not limited to, supervision of staff, assurance that all Department of Health protocols are followed (and interaction with inspectors as needed), and supervision on off-site trips.
Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age with 24 weeks + supervisory/administrative experience in a camp setting (or equivalent). Must have obtained or be working toward a BA and certified in CPR and RTE First Aid (training can be provided). Must be patient, creative, flexible and exhibit strong teamwork, as well as leadership skills.
Time Commitment: 2 full days of staff training, 8 weeks of camp (8 hours/day) and up to 40 hours of planning and prep time.
