The Assistant Director position is full-time, permanent and non-exempt. The main duties of the Assistant Director are to manage the day-to-day operations of a community-based nonprofit organization including grant and contract administration, human resources, information technology and fund development. The position will support the Executive Director and other ROSE staff on strategy and professional development. Education and/or experience in community development or nonprofit management is required.
DUTIES:
Support internal management functions including administration, human resources, logistics, planning, budgeting and governance.
Increase organizational resources through donor campaigns, major gifts, events, grants and contracts.
Develop strategic communications to increase awareness about the organization and its mission among decision-makers, stakeholders and the public.
Build effective teams of staff, board, volunteers and partners.
Represent the organization and promote two-way communication with community groups, neighborhood businesses, partners and decision-makers.
Advocate for policies and programs that benefit outer southeast Portland neighborhoods, low-income people and communities of color.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/experience in nonprofit organizations and their administrative procedures and systems.
Demonstrated experience in resource development through grant writing, donations, sponsorships and events.
Ability to work with diverse constituencies of all races, cultures and classes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software.
Flexible schedule, including the ability to attend evening and weekend functions
Enthusiasm for work in a nonprofit, community-based organization.
Bachelor’s degree in community development, nonprofit management or equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Somali or Eastern European languages.
Experience with Little Green Light or other donor management software.
Experience with Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Creative Suite or other layout/photo editing software.
HOURS:
Full-time position (40 hours per week). Mostly during regular business hours Monday through Friday with some evenings and weekends.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Driver’s license and reliable transportation is required. The job involves some travel in the Portland area. Position will be supervised by the Executive Director.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
Starting salary is between $40,000 and $45,000, depending on experience. Benefits include full medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
