Assistant Manager, Race Scoring – New York Road Runners

About the Position

The Assistant Manager of Race Scoring will be responsible for providing timing results services for approximately 20 annual events, including managing timing equipment, preparing event data and software, results postings and reports and post-event customer service and follow-up.

About the Department

The overall objective of ED&P department is the management of all NYRR event and production operations, from sound logistical and financial planning to safe and efficient execution, while working with the Business Development & Strategic Partnerships department to develop event models that result in contributing to the overall profitability of the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

Strong logistical/operational skills; background in event production recommended.
Focused attention to detail. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Works well under pressure and tight deadlines.
Race scoring project lead for 20 annual events, including identifying scoring requirements and preparing software, ensuring timing equipment and related hardware are prepared for events, provide onsite results as defined by the event, manage part-time staff at event.
Manage race entrant and finisher data, including imports, bib/tag assignments, internal and external reports and other data fulfillment, ensuring data accuracy.
Provide customer service by e-mail and phone, including results corrections and updates.
Manage race scoring hardware, including preparation and maintenance of timing equipment, software and firmware updates, equipment inventory, including van inventory system.
Manage TCS New York City Marathon contract timer operations including sourcing equipment, scheduling staff, equipment inventory, deployment and recovery.
Manage invoice processing and expense reconciliation for the race scoring team.
Work closely with all internal groups to insure plans integrate seamlessly into overall event operations.

Job Requirements:

Skills and Attributes:

Strong logistical/operational skills; background in event production recommended.
Focused attention to detail. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Works well under pressure and tight deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Excel; Word, PowerPoint; Visio.
Basic networking and TCP-IP background recommended.
Ability to provide detailed analysis and reports.
Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment; ability to manage part-time staff.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience:

Customer service background recommended.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Other Requirements:

USATF Official Certification and technical knowledge of road racing a plus.
Willingness to travel within the five boroughs, work various weekends and extended hours as needed. Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
