COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT
EduCare Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) educational organization providing high quality after school and student success programs to youth throughout L.A. County. EduCare’s nationally recognized programs help prevent destructive social behaviors, while promoting positive development and healthy relationships in the home, at school, and in the community. As the lead after school program provider at 18 middle and high schools, EduCare currently serves more than 2,500 students daily in Los Angeles Unified and Lynwood Unified School Districts.

Position Summary:
The Communications Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative, technical, and project based support to help advance EduCare’s communications and marketing efforts. Under the direction of the Communications Manager, the Communications Assistant will be assisting in the planning, development, and implementation of traditional and digital media campaigns across multiple channels.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Create high-quality social media content, including but not limited to: channel-specific post development, writing and editing, media selection, and tracking metrics.
Create monthly e-newsletter using Constant Contact.
Maintain and update EduCare’s website. Assist with reporting and monitoring of website traffic using Google Analytics.
Identify social media trends, key handles, and effective hashtags, leveraging opportunities to communicate with and engage target audiences online as directed.
Monitor social media accounts, online subscriptions and Google Alerts, collecting and curating relevant content and drafting responses to tags or mentions.
Maintain communications and marketing materials, including in-house production of print materials as needed.
Maintain inventory of communications and marketing supplies; facilitate ordering and distribution as needed.
Maintain ongoing communications calendar, includes inputting of programs, events, timelines, and upcoming content or deliverables.
Conduct research and assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in communications, journalism, marketing, public policy or related field preferred.

Experience
1-3 years professional experience (communications and marketing experience highly preferred).

Knowledge & Abilities
Experience with managing social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Constant Contact.
High attention to detail and strong project management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects.
Experience with managing a website CMS desired (WordPress preferred).
Knowledge of SEO strategy and best practices desired.
Knowledge of Google Analytics desired.
Understanding of HTML and/or CSS desired.
Graphic design experience desired.
Video production/editing experience desired.
Familiarity with current issues regarding youth, afterschool, and education in Los Angeles County desired.

Job Type:
Part-time – 16 hours per week
