Communications Assistant – The Century Foundation – New York, NY

The Century Foundation, a progressive non-partisan think tank, is seeking a bright, energetic communications assistant to help us prepare for the launch of a new website and support our busy communications team through Spring 2016.

You:

Some college, perhaps more. You should be an undergrad, grad student, or recent graduate with an interest in communications and/or public policy.

A digital native. A lot of the work we need help with is connected with the launch of a new TCF website in 2016. You should feel comfortable working in a CMS and across social media platforms, and have some basic HTML knowledge, as well as a solid relationship with spreadsheets. Bonus points for familiarity with Adobe InDesign.

Organized. You’ll be working on a lot of different things on any given day. You’ll have to be detail oriented, organized and an efficient multi-tasker.

A good writer. Everyone thinks they write well. You actually do. You probably get a kick out of noticing grammatical errors in the NY Times.

A doer. Thinkers are cool, but we need someone who’s willing to jump in right away and help us get the job done. You love being busy!

The Gig:

Assist with the launch of a new website with responsibilities including copywriting, content migration, data entry, image cropping, beta testing and task tracking.

Support the editorial team with proofreading and some basic editing.

Help with media monitoring and regular website updates.

Staff events and provide logistical support for convenings.

Map stakeholders, build contact lists and assist with outreach efforts.

If you have some graphic design skills, we will put them to work!

Other duties as assigned.

How to apply

This is a three month at will contract position. Full-time is preferred but for the right candidate we would consider part-time or flexible working arrangements. To apply please email a cover letter, resume, and one writing sample to commsjob@tcf.org by January 4, 2015.
