Data Clerk for SEIU 775 – Seattle, WA : SEIU 775 is the long-term care workers union, representing more than 40,000 home care and nursing home workers across Washington State and Montana. SEIU 775 is a fast-growing union committed to improving the lives of workers and their families and to leading the way towards creating a more just and humane society. The data entry clerk plays a key role in our management and processing for member data.
Responsibilities:
Receive, track and process Union Membership forms
Scan materials for upload into database
Match scanned card images to member records
Quality check audio recordings and log accordingly
Follow direction from Manager of Administrative Support Services, other administrative and program staff regarding data entry needs
Assist in the maintenance of an organized filing system for paper card storage
Perform light typing, word processing, list pulling, and mail merging for program staff as directed by supervisor
Assist with collating materials for workshops, meetings, packets, annual convention, and other purposes as directed
Meet with administrative and program staff on a regular basis, as needed to discuss work assignments, changes in priorities, problems and plans for improved clerical effectiveness
Maintain current knowledge of overall data flow
Assist with major events of the union year

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Basic computer literacy
A working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook email and calendaring
Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel, including mail merge
A willingness and ability to learn the organization’s technology tools
Strong attention to detail
Strong organizational skills and record-keeping ability
Follow procedures, and makes suggestions to improve process
Friendly, and team oriented
Strong personal planning, motivation, and time management skills
Ability to work with people from other cultures and backgrounds
Ability to lift 30 pounds
High school diploma or equivalent
Computer work, phone work, occasional field work
Attend meetings: (driving, walking, sitting, standing, talking, and listening for up to three hours at time with intermittent breaks)
Lift up to 30 pounds
Occasionally walk for up to 3 hours at a time.
Mobilize and lead workers in grassroots political action: (driving, walking, sitting, standing, giving verbal and/or physical direction for up to three hours at a time).
Occasionally work irregular hours to prepare for and attend events and union activities.
Compensation: This position is full time (40 hours/week). Salary and benefits set by collectively bargained contract; pay ranges from $15.00 per hour.
