Development Assistant – Worldfund – New York, NY

Employment Type: Internship, part time

Duration: dates negotiable with preference given to those who would like to extend through the fall semester

Eligibility:

Must be at least a college sophomore in good standing, an advanced student, or a recent graduate.

Must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution.

Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Organization Description: Worldfund is a nongovernmental organization whose mission is to provide teacher training in Latin America. We are headquartered in New York City and have offices in Mexico City, Mexico, and São Paulo, Brazil.

We are currently seeking an intern to work closely with the development and communications team toprovide background assistance to our fundraising efforts. You will work mainly with the Development and Communications Associate, the Executive Director and a fellow intern working on communications efforts.

The intern, within a timespan of at least 6 weeks (negotiable), would complete several specific projects to accomplish the following imperative, short-term needs of the organization:

New prospect donor research

Peer-to-peer fundraising effort research

Data migration between a legacy donor management system and Raiser’s Edge

Research entry into Raiser’s Edge

The intern will also be encouraged to pick a continuing project of her or his own to complete throughout his or her time with Worldfund.

Necessary skills:

Ability to learn to navigate a new database

Interest in nonprofit fundraising

Excellent research skills

Creativity

Patience and a positive attitude

Attention to detail

Preferred skills:

A background in or knowledge of international affairs, education, and/or Latin America

Experience or interest in crowdfunding
