Legal Assistant – Immigration Counseling Service (ICS) – Portland, OR

For more than 35 years Immigration Counseling Service (ICS) has been dedicated to improving the lives of Oregon’s immigrant communities through access to affordable legal services. One of our programs assists unaccompanied children who are undocumented and detained in staff/secure detention facilities, shelters, transitional and long term foster care programs.

ICS has an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant that will provide group Know Your Rights presentations, conduct individual screenings regarding a child’s history and support Staff Attorneys with their work in regard to the juveniles. The most important qualification will be experience working with children, particularly children that have suffered trauma and come from other cultures. We are looking for an individual who is committed to immigration and human rights issues and who works best in a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience communicating and collaborating with children
Fluent in written and spoken Spanish.
Computer skills
College graduate preferred

Some legal experience a plus
