In addition to daily daycare activates, children are immersed in Montessori educational opportunities at the pre-school level and you will be expected to assist the teacher with the young students in creating an optimal learning environment. In addition, your support will be required to clean up and set up materials and the classroom appropriately. Further you will assist staff in monitoring and interacting with children during free play time and during meals and snacks.

About Creative Montessori Learning Center: Dating back to the mid-sixties, our school was founded in Chicago’s west suburban Elmhurst as an early education non-profit organization. In December 1979, Edgewood Elementary school was purchased from the Villa Park school district and the Elmhurst Montessori School was relocated there. In June 1987, the school was re-incorporated under its present name: Creative Montessori Learning Center.

The school is open year round with the hours of operation being 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. 5 days a week. The school is housed in a 5000 sq. ft. single story building with five large classrooms furnished with Montessori educational materials. The facility is also equipped with a variety of toys and other materials for different day care activities. Children enjoy approximately 2 acres of green space which includes a playground. The school is surrounded by a fence and is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood.

About the Montessori Method: The basic idea underlying the Montessori philosophy of education is that unseen within every child is the person the child will become. Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician who developed this method of teaching, recognized that the only valid impulse to learn is the self-motivation of the child. The teacher prepares the environment, programs the activity, functions as the reference person and custodian and offers the child stimulations; it is the child who learns and is motivated through the work itself. If the Montessori child is free to learn, it is because the child has acquired an `inner discipline’ from exposure to both physical and mental order. This is the core of Montessori philosophy.
