About the Freedom Education Project Puget Sound The Freedom Education Project Puget Sound (FEPPS) is a small nonprofit that offers a rigorous college program leading to an Associate of Arts and Science degree inside the Washington Correction Center for Women (WCCW). FEPPS staff manage faculty from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma Community College, Evergreen, South Seattle Community College, University of Washington, and Pacific Lutheran University who provide college courses in the humanities, social sciences, math, and science leading to an Associate of Arts degree in liberal arts, as well as college preparatory courses in Math and English, to over 100 students.

Position Overview The Program Assistant provides programmatic support to the Program Manager and volunteers of the College Program at the Washington Corrections Center for women. This role is primarily administrative, requiring meticulous attention to detail, advanced organizational skills, and the ability to implement, and at times create, systems for managing a fast-paced flow of tasks and information. The role also includes providing direct support and supervision to students and instructors inside the prison, as well as communicating in a productive manner with correctional staff and administrators, program visitors, donors, and others.

Job Duties include:

1. Manage all academic program-related material supplies and copies, including but not limited to: ordering materials, bringing them inside the prison, completing institutional paperwork, responding to related volunteer and student communications, soliciting book donations, and maintaining shared electronic tracking document 2. Provide on-site coverage of classes, which includes: escorting volunteers in and out of the institution, facilitating movement of students to class, ensuring that instructors have necessary materials, assisting with student mailings, and other tasks as assigned 3. Build and manage electronic surveys 4. Compile course-related information such as final grades 5. Assist Program Manager with student registration 6. Manage all program-related copying, including registration materials, orientation materials, placement exams, etc. 7. Track student requests when on-site and relay these as needed to fellow Program staff 8. Attend program and all staff meetings 9. Other duties as assigned

Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. 12. Comfortable walking up to two hours per day 13. Willing and able to lift 40lbs (boxes, etc.)

Compensation:

This is a part-time position with a starting salary of $25,000. Benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off. Employees may also choose to participate in a retirement plan.

Schedule: 24hrs/week. Schedule will be determined upon hire but employee must be willing to spend 2 days a week in the prison. This job may become full-time by Fall 2016.
